FAMILY ORIGINS The Adler family resided in Tyszowce, Poland. The earliest recorded ancestor is Kasriel Adler, born circa 1750. I found an 1829 marriage document for Jankiel Adler and also an 1862 document in which Jankiel Adler signed the document along with his new son-in-law Moszek Biterman.  her son and her daughter and a family friend. Bluma married my grandfather. She and her daughter were murdered at Stutthof Concentration Camp in 1945 and her son Chaim Biterman was shot in Hrubieszow early in the war.   SURNAME ORIGINS Adler is an ornamental name meaning "eagle". Borg is a metonymic occupational name for a money lender, from the Yiddish borg or "credit". Szer/Szor/Szerer/Szorer is occupational name for a sheep-shearer or someone who used scissors to trim the surface of finished cloth and remove excessive nap, from the German scherer or Yiddish sherer, agent derivatives of the Middle High German scheren, "to shear".
