The Brookfield News (Brookfield, Wis.) Published Opinion. July 3, 2002. Now that State Senator Brian Burke has been criminally charged in the caucus campaign investigation, it's time to charge all of the other incumbent rascals who have done the same exact thing as Burke. Instead of prosecuting the others right now, the District Attorneys will wait until after the July 9 filing deadline to run for political office. That way, the in-scumbent -- err, incumbent -- politicians will not have any real challengers in the November election, launching them back into the State House of Corruption. Doesn't this bother you, folks? It sure as hell bothers me. State workers and resources were used on my dime and your dime to conduct private political campaigning in both the Democratic and Republican parties. So what's the answer? I urge independents and third party candidates to run for office by collecting the 200 to 400 valid signatures to qualify for ballot access before the July 9 deadline. I urge Wisconsin voters to vote out those who have not been charged, but should be. People like State Senators Chuck Chvala (D-Madison), Kim Plache (D- Racine), and Mary Panzer (R-West Bend) and State Representatives Scott Jensen (R-Town of Brookfield), Steve Foti (R-Oconomowoc), Shirley Krug (D-Milwaukee), and Bonnie Ladwig (R-Racine) must be replaced with people who have the ability to be frugal with citizen's hard-earned money. It's your sweat and blood that these cronies have abused. Make them accountable for their actions. Aaron Biterman Brookfield |
