Driving from where the family lived in Germany to where Joannes Frison and Maria Weiland married, in Altenstadt in 1860, would take 40 minutes. The family likely spoke German, but because they moved to France, many of the records use their French names. Thus, Johannes Ludovicus Frison may have been documented as Jean Louis Frison.
