RADIO HOST SLY ENDORSES THOMPSON 12/6/2001. Madison’s most popular radio talk show host John Sylvester, host of “Sly in the Morning,” endorsed Tomah Mayor Ed Thompson in his bid for governor during his morning talk show Thursday. “I am your humble servant,” Sly told Thompson during the live interview. Sly, who has held a spot in Madison radio for more than 14 years, said he agrees with almost everything Thompson stands for. Thompson is the first third party candidate Sly has endorsed. Generally described as a Democrat, Sly has supported other political candidates, most recently U.S. senator Russ Feingold. He said he sees many similarities between Feingold and Thompson. “He shows the type of political courage that’s necessary for a candidate to stand up for the entire Bill of Rights,” said Sly.
